To be honest, I am not personally a huge fan of podcasts because most tend to be waaaaaaaaay too long for me to invest the time to listen -- but I like your "under 5 minutes" approach! I agree with you though that written blogs are essentially passé and all the cool kids are now posting photos on Instagram, doing podcasts or, even more likely, videos on TikTok.
The use of blue (bottles, shutters, painted trim) to ward off evil spirits made me think of the Mediterranean/Middle East use of those blue "evil eye" medallions to accomplish the same thing!
I didn't know that about blue shutters...there is a lady here in town that has a big bush/tree with blue bottles on the branches...didn't know that she was warding off evil..in a town of redneck trump supporters she's going to need more bottles...and yes, Anne you need a podcast...wonder if I should do one? fuck..have enough trouble doing ydg..
Very interesting! I didn't know that blue bottles protected one's door. I have blue trim on my windows and my front porch floor is painted blue so I'm feeling pretty happy about that. My dad has a kitchen window full of blue bottles - mostly because he loves blue glass, but also because he loves sherry.
I'm going to be the old codger who keeps reading blogs! I agree with Debra that most podcasts are too long. Yours was just right.
I like to read - allows me to use my brain/imagination. Just have not been able to sit, doing nothing, and listen to a podcast. But - hope yours is successful.
