Beautiful Show on Solstice

The sky was cloudless, the air was brisk, and the lunar eclipse was fabulous! I built a bonfire in the back yard and began watching Luna at about 3:00 a.m. The Heir sat with me a long time, and The Spare came out to see the total coverage. But I sat there until the last of the shadow faded from the face of the Pale Goddess, alternately meditating on the vast universe and the return of longer moments of daylight.

Blessed be to all who await the return of the Sun, and blessed be to those who send the Sun back to us to warm our old bones.

Solstice is the reason for the season.

It was fortunate the night sky was fairly clear.

I should have had a bonfire too.

How wonderful that you were able to enjoy the whole eclipse! A special Solstice indeed. Solstice blessings to you and yours, Anne!

Sadly, it was mostly cloudy here in the deep south.

I was able to keep a pretty good eye until right after the full occlusion but after that there was solid cloud cover.

Glad you got to see it.

Awesome that you lit a bonfire and watched from beginning to end! I definitely would have if I had someone to keep me company (and awake) but my husband is a spoil sport and was asleep by 11, and I followed by 12:30 even though I tried my hardest. Sigh.

DH and I stayed up to see the full coverage of the Moon -- and then we finally hit the hay just about 3 AM! Incredible sight -- just breathtaking!

You are very welcome to the sun, Anne. Pesky deity has been felling us with heat stroke. About time s/he wandered off back north.

Love,

Babs and I sat out in the parking lot..she is the only one moved back in over there (except for crazy Betty and she was asleep by 10) and we were laughing and joking..I kept saying 'what if it blows up.'..we weren't being very spiritual at all..we were being 8 year old silly and giggling...every now and then Babs would realize the seriousness of the moment and tell me to 'shut the fuck up'..and then we'd start giggling all over again. but it was very beautiful and in moments of quiet would think ...we are so tiny compared to the world..we are nothing but a speck of dust in the universe..

Missed it (this year) on this side of the planet. Hillsides, timing, and trees obscuring. have some great pics and memories of last "red moon" though.

Sol is on the way toward your hemisphere.

Blessings to you and yours for the festive season.

Cheers and best wishes.

I and the Witch were truly blessed. We had clear, albeit cold skies, and we watched the shadow of the Earth consume Momma Moon in a deep shade of Red. I felt the power, which actually seemed to keep me warm while I lay on my back in the front yard with the outside cat loving all over me. I felt very special to be one of the select to witness this.

So blessed you are that you could watch it all...I prepared the fire pit for a fire, and got the alter ready.

Then we got 3 inches of snow, so I had to stay indoors with my sick daughter and now husband.

We still had a ritual, but not under the moon with a fire.

Solstice blessing.

Watched it in amazement.

I want to tell you how much it means to me to be able to read your blog. You are such an inspiration to me!

We need to get together again for wine and talk.

We shivered in amazement (and the -5' temp) as we watched the eclipse. My soul was thrilled by the sight and by the knowledge that the sun is FINALLY returning to the far north.
