Good and Faithful Servant

O dear Goddesses, Freya and Bast, please guard and care for the spirit of my Alpha, sent to You on Thursday, February 21 at 7:30 p.m.

Alpha was a good and faithful servant. I hope to find her in the Summerlands, waiting for me. And if death is all there is, then she and I will be united in that, some day.

My heart to you & yours. How unfortunate to find we share a commonality in this way. During the freshness grief last week or so, a dear friend wrote to me:

"Ah those felines are always deeply woven into our hearts, or more like our veins and our very breath itself... He will of course be with you as you find fur long after your endless vacuuming, years afterward. They visit, shamelessly, reminding us of our obligation to them, of our worship of them and of the love that they taught to us. They are so much wiser than we can ever be. And though dogs are family, and even moose connect with us, somehow cats own us. You are forever his..."

An astute & thoughtful Druid, she also reminded me that he now resides in our hearts & memories as an ancestor & should thus be honoured. I never thought of ancestors this way, but now this enigmatic concept makes a great deal more sense.

May your heartache ease by degrees & may her journey be all that she needs.

Oh I am so very sorry for your loss. I wish I had more eloquent words to express my grief at your grief. But sorry is all I have.

Oh, I'm so sorry to hear this news. Alpha was Number One! in so many ways, of course. Wishing you heart's ease in time. Farewell, noble feline.

Anne, I am so sorry for your loss. She was beautiful.

How lucky she was, though, to have been loved and cared for her entire life and to have loved you in return. You gave her a home and family and love, and she lived well. May happy memories of her soon be stronger than your grief.

I am so sorry to hear of this. My heart breaks anew and fresh tears fall for your loss as I remember my beloved Merleau who died two years ago this month. Find comfort in knowing you will be together once again, some day.

I am so sorry, Anne.

I am almost convinced now that my old Brit whom I lost in the 90s has come back to me in Rory. That sounds silly but it really is very uncanny how very very similar they are, and Rory once in a while gives me these knowing looks, the kind an old friend gives you when he's teasing you. I think you'll see her again, one way or the other, maybe even here on Earth yet.

SO sorry for your loss. I've watched many of my kitty friends depart for the Summerlands, but it never gets easier.

Bless you, and may you be comforted for the loss you have sustained. And may there be prepared for Alpha a seat in the boat of the Sun on the day whereon the god sails.
