I suppose it depends on your definition of 'successful.' Are we talking successful as in that it survives, or successful as in that it grows to become large?
We grew pumpkins way too successfully in our compost heap. The blue pumpkins were the best, in that they took over the entire compost heap. We were hacking away at pumpkin vines for weeks. So yes, it seems that compost is the key. Either that, or a lack of intention to actually grow pumpkins. Love, Terri in Joburg
